Nepal Food Festival Held in Beijing to Mark 70 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Kathmandu: A vibrant Nepal Food Festival 2025 was held in Beijing on Monday as part of the celebrations marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China. The festival, organized by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, carried the theme: “Celebrating 70 Years of Friendship: Tasting Nepali Flavors, Deepening Connections.”

The event also aligns with Nepal Visit Year 2025, aiming to promote Nepal as a culinary and cultural destination for Chinese and international tourists.

In a special video message, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba encouraged people worldwide to visit Nepal and experience its rich food culture firsthand.

Nepal’s Ambassador to China, Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, welcomed attendees and highlighted how each Nepali dish reflects the country's warmth, diversity, and rich heritage. “Each dish is a true treat to our heart,” he said.

High-level Chinese tourism officials also participated in the event. Vice Chairman of the World Tourism Alliance Xu Peng commended Nepal’s efforts in food diplomacy, while Vice Secretary General of China Association of Travel Services Jin Zhan emphasized the need for even deeper cultural and touristic engagement between the two neighbors.

The food lineup featured iconic Nepali delicacies such as:

-Sel Roti

-Mo:Mo

-Yomari

-Juju Dhau

-Chatamari

-Bara

-Gundruk

-Mustang Aloo, and more.

Traditional Nepali music and dance performances by Nepali artists added to the festival’s festive ambiance.

Over 400 guests attended the event, including Chinese government officials, ambassadors from countries including India, Japan, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria, Panama, and Bolivia, members of the diplomatic corps, media professionals, and representatives from Nepali and Chinese communities.

The event served as a flavorful showcase of Nepal’s cultural diplomacy and a timely reminder of the enduring friendship between the two countries.
